I like what Neil DeGrasse Tyson has to say about art — why we need it, what it does for us.

Tyson’s work is in physics, where he has certainly been a big contributor. At the same time he has worked very hard to make science accessible to everyday people, to those of us not trained in advanced science topics. He fully recognizes the importance of art in raising public awareness about vital issues of the day.
