The most common lament I hear is this: "I love orchids, but I don't know how to take care of them."

It really isn't that complicated. Just a few simple rules.

First, and foremost, don't over-water.

Second, orchids need to be re-potted every year or two.  The potting medium breaks down over time, and in this process it binds with nitrogen, causing loss of valuable nutrients for your plant.

We also have to examine the plant for insect infestation and damage from over-watering.

The re-potting process is quite simple, as I demonstrated recently at a GNTOS meeting (Greater North Texas Orchid Society).

And ... voilà! A very happy orchid.
